After looking for this game for a few weeks, I finally found it at the cheapest price I have ever seen. I think it is a used game, but in perfect conditions.
Wipeout Pure is the latest game to continue the Wipeout racing series, with a barrage of bright colors and a chilling Breakbeat and Drum and Bass soundtrack, all along with high speed racing and dangerous curves and jumps into oblivion.
Wipeout Pure was out on May 2005, upgrading the racing series up to the FX300 Racing League, this time in 2197, featuring a whole new experience in anti-gravity high speed racing. Totally new and expertly designed race tracks in the cities, in the mountains and in the sky bring new challenges to Wipeout veterans and newbies. The weapons are still much like previous Wipeout games, but new warefare equipment has been included, such as bombs, disruption particles and more. Some weapons, such as wall and wall deflector, have been excluded.
Of course, the same teams still exist, but have changed their models, yet still keep the same form and colours of previous Wipeout games.
New racing games have been included, such as Zone and Free play. In Zone you have to maneuver a special ship through specially designed race tracks, at incredible high speeds. The main objective of Zone is to survive as long as possible, for your ship will accelerate continuosly without stopping in specially designed race tracks, until it explodes from damage. Free play is an extra game in which you can race and practice on the available tracks for as long as you want.
The new controls also give the player new possibilities of movement, now that there are no L2 or R2 buttons on the PSP. You can now move sideways, useful when you come upon mines, bombs, enemy players or walls. When you jump at high altitudes, you can do a barrel roll in the air to win an extra boost, which is also useful, in some occassions.
Wipeout Pure comes with a great soundtrack, featuring some of the best breakbeat Djs of England and the world: Plump Djs, Photek, Freq Nasty, Drumattic twins, Cold Storage, Cosmos, Elite Force, Friendly, Jay Tripwire, LFO, Ming + FS, Paul Hartnoll, Rennie Pilgrem and Roxiller, T Power, Stanton Warriors, Tayo meets acid rockers uptown, Themroc, DJ Tiësto and Aphex Twin.
The game includes a download app, where you can download extra packs to update your game: new tracks, ships and music. There is a possibility to use the download app as an internet browser, a little limited but still useful.
If you own a PSP, you won't want to miss this game. Although at first this game will give you headaches, it will soon be one of your hobbies.
I once tried playing Wipeout Pure with another PSP user and succeded by using just one single disc. Multiplayer games like this one are cool too.
